AG MAJORS, FFAs AND PRO RANCHERS INVITED TO RANCHER ADVOCACY TALK

The third annual Central Coast VegFest, held from 10a – 5p at SLOUMC on Saturday, February 15th will host a special guest speaker from Waelder, Texas: Renee King-Sonnen, Founder of non-profit Rowdy Girl Sanctuary and the Rancher Advocacy Program(RAP). King-Sonnen will speak at 1:15 p.m. at 1515 Fredericks Street in San Luis Obispo about the steps she took to help her husband Tommy, a multi-generation cattle rancher, convert his land to a more environmentally-friendly and conscientious operation.

King-Sonnen’s “Rancher Advocacy Program” offers counsel and support to cattle ranches and chicken farmers in Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina, and California. RAP’s timeline includes helping farms across America and even has a global projection due to demand.  Her background in cattle ranching gives King-Sonnen a special understanding for those raised in the ranching world, and the Rancher Advocacy Program’s Mission is “to work with ranchers that use animals for profit so that they can confidently move away from the cruelty model of animal agriculture, to other viable farming and business practices” that become a “sustainable force for good on our planet.”

Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, is the first beef cattle ranch vegan conversion in the history of Texas, the United States and most likely the world.  The Rancher Advocacy Program helps current ranchers or animal ag individuals to:  maintain personal integrity and financial freedom; affirm with greater purpose their family history and heritage in a way that future generations can be proud of; and continue their family traditions that love the land and animals alike, while still feeding the world and/or providing some other beneficial product or service.
