We discussed perhaps the most important question of our time.

What can farmers do, on their land, to thrive without using animals?

The survival of our planet may well depend on helping farmers evolve to something better for them and for the planet.

On Saturday, JULY 30, 2022, farmers, ranchers, scientists, food and agriculture experts, business leaders, activists and technologists converged to tackle this challenge.

RAP SUMMIT ONLINE –  JULY 30, 2022

The 4th RAP Summit dove into the solution of connecting Plant Based Companies with Farmers. Leading the Plant Based Conversation was Carl Jorgensen, Animal Agriculture Consultant for the Plant Based Food Association. We explored the need for Domestic Sourcing of ingredients for farmers, the need to move away from dependence on long global Supply Chains to shorter domestic supply networks, and our panel was committed to including the conversation about the dire need to help Indigenous and Black farmers who have historically been marginalized in terms of access to markets.

ABOUT THE RAP SUMMIT

The Rancher Advocacy Program (RAP) Summit is a convergence of trailblazers interested in creating solutions for farmers and ranchers. RAP, a Rowdy Girl Sanctuary Program, has spent the last six years supporting ranchers and their families as they come to grips with the devastating reality of animal agriculture; concurrently, we have been developing key relationships with organizations, entrepreneurs, academics, and investors keen on transitioning animal farms away from traditional methods. How can farmers thrive on their land without using animals? We will have critical conversations with expert panelists and farmers in transition from all over the world–and together we will push the needle ever further in the direction of solving this question. The imminent concerns around food, the economy, the animals, and climate will take all of us working together to reframe the vegan proposition and bring farmers and ranchers to the marketplace of ideas.

A round-table (solution oriented) conversation with: Ranchers in Transition, Plant-Based Industry Leaders, Veganic Farmers, Animal & Climate Activists, Film Makers and Trail Blazers.

SPECIAL APPEARANCES

Pat Brown of Impossible Foods

Patrick O. Brown is Chief Visionary Officer and founder of Impossible Foods, a company at the forefront of making nutritious, delicious meat and dairy products from plants to satisfy meat lovers and address the environmental impact of animal farming.

The idea for Impossible Foods came to Pat while he was on sabbatical from his position as an HHMI investigator and professor of biochemistry at the Stanford University School of Medicine. In reflecting on how he could use his training and experience to make the largest positive impact on the world, he realized there was a way to make delicious, affordable meat and dairy products, directly from plants – that would be better for the environment and for consumers. In 2011, Pat chose to devote himself full time to Impossible Foods.
